We are only two weeks away from Spring Break! I still can't believe I only have one quarter left with your children. They have truly been an amazing group to work with. Upcoming events: February 28th - Jump Rope for Heart Assembly March 7th - Field Trip to the Desert Botanical Gardens - If you have not signed your child's permission slip and sent it back to school with $10 yet, please do so by Friday, March 3rd. March 10th - No school March 13th - March 17th - Spring Break March 31st - Half day - Pick up at 12:00 This week: We will have 30 spelling words. Please write the first three words in cursive each day. Markings are required on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Markings are not required on Thursday. In math, we will continue our study of money. We will study further addition strategies and have a quiz on Wednesday. We will begin subtracting money on Thursday. In science, we will continue our geology unit. There will be a quiz on Friday. In literature, we will read chapters 5-8 of Sarah Plain and Tall. There will not be a quiz this week. If you have any questions, please let me know. Mrs. Bejarano

February 23: PSO fundraiser at Panda Express Parents, We are almost through our 3rd quarter already! Spring is just around the corner! Here's a look at the week ahead! In Spalding we will have 21 words this week. Scholars will write the following words in cursive for homework and on the test Friday. Writing, writer, write, complaint, complain, complained. We will continue building on our cursive practice each week! Spelling test and phonogram quiz will be on Friday. In math we will continue to work with money by making change and move into adding and subtracting dollars and cents. There will be a quiz on Thursday. In Science we will continue our study of geology on the earths spheres. There is a quiz Tuesday over last weeks lessons. In Literature we will review chapters 1-4 of Sarah, Plain and Tall there will be a study guide coming home on Thursday and a test over chapters 1-4 on Friday. Upcoming events: Monday, February 20th - No school This week: Today in Spalding, we learned uppercase cursive! There are no words Monday, so please just practice those upper case letters with your scholar. Every night this week please take time to practice cursive. On Tuesday and Wednesday, only the first three spelling words of each day are to be written in cursive, just like last week. All words on Thursday and test Friday! In math, we will review addition and subtraction mental math on Monday and Tuesday then take the unit test on Wednesday. We will start money on Thursday. In history, we will wrap up the war of 1812 on Monday with a quiz on Tuesday. We will start Geology on Wednesday. In literature, we will begin Sarah, Plain and Tall. Upcoming events: Monday, February 6th - Composition Journals needed Friday, February 10th - Half day, Dismissal at 12:00 Monday, February 20th - No school This week: The time has come to finally come to introduce cursive! Practicing the correct cursive formations at home is critical in the progression of their confidence and clarity while using cursive, so please be extra diligent this week in not rushing through homework, but rather, solidifying handwriting skills. We will learn the lowercase cursive formations on Monday, therefore, there will not be any spelling words. However, there will still be cursive practice for homework. On Tuesday and Wednesday, only the first three spelling words of each day are to be written in cursive. We want to slowly introduce cursive, not overwhelm scholars. If you have any questions about the homework this week, please let me know. In math, we will begin to learn subtraction mental math strategies. We will have a quiz on Friday. In history, we will continue to study the War of 1812. There will not be a quiz this week. In literature, we will finish Stuart Little.
