Each night, your scholar will receive a piece of paper, in their red folder, with the 10 words that were studied in class that day. Please dictate the 10 words to your scholar 3 times in different orders. As your scholar writes the words, they need to also do the markings for each word. Please have your scholar write their words in their best Spalding handwriting. Markings need to be done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday you should dictate all 30 words to your scholar and NO MARKINGS need to be done on this day. Spelling test will be on Friday Scholars need to study phonograms 1-70 every night. If your scholar can say all 70 phonogram sounds, please practice having them write their phonograms as you dictate to them. History-We will finish up our unit on Geography. There will be a review on Wednesday. Please have your child study this review for the Geography TEST on Thursday. We will start Science on Friday. Science-Our first unit in Science will be on the seasons. We will discuss the seasons and what happens in each one. Literature-We will continue reading The Boxcar Children. Hopefully you have seen YELLOW folders coming home every Friday. Please make sure you sign the front signature page. A little something about History and Science summaries.... These summaries should be about what your child learned that day in that subject. They should be writing 2-3 complete sentences that contain details from what they remember from the lesson. If your child is struggling coming up with a summary, read with them the notes for the day and have them retell you what you read. They can use what they say for their summary. Summaries should not be about something that happened on the playground or at PE. If you have any questions of concerns, please email me! [email protected]

Our spelling tests and phonogram tests will always be on Friday, unless we do not have school on Friday, in which they will be on Thursday. In math, we will review numbers within 1,000. Please be sure to complete the assigned workbook pages each night. In history, we will begin a unit on Geography. Students will identify the continents, oceans, our country, state, city, and community. There will be a quiz on Thursday. Please be sure to complete a 2-3 complete sentence summary each night. If you ever need anything please do not hesitate to reach out! I am looking forward to partnering with you and making your scholars second grade year a wonderful learning experience! Hello and welcome to the new 2017-2018 school year!
I am Mrs. Bejarano and I am an Arizona native. I live in the Goodyear area with my husband Rob and twin daughters, Ellie and Bella. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Northern Arizona University. I have taught for 14 years and I am so excited to be teaching 2nd grade! This will be my third year within the Archway Trivium East family. My teachers assistant this year is Mrs. Cox. This is her fourth year teaching with Great Hearts, but her first year at Archway Trivium East. A note from Mrs. Cox: I'm excited to meet both you and your child, and I am looking forward to this school year. I am originally from Atlanta, but my husband, four daughters and I have lived in Avondale for the past 14 years. So now we claim Phoenix as our home. I graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and later went back to earn my Masters in Elementary Education. My hobbies include reading, cooking, walking, and spending time with my family and friends. The scholars at Archway Trivium East will experience curriculum that is rich in content. The expectations are high, but the instruction and guidance given in class will prepare your scholar for this challenge. What happens in the classroom will help mold your child's future into seeking the truth, goodness, and beauty of their learning experience. Mrs. Cox and I are looking forward to meeting, and enriching the minds of our scholars! Let's have a terrific year! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. Mrs. Bejarano |
