We are full swing ahead into our last quarter. Please encourage your scholar to complete their homework every night. Our words are becoming more and more difficult and with the nightly practice this will help them learn these words. UPCOMING EVENTS: March 31: Half Day Dismissal-NO LUNCHES April 7: Field Day-more information coming soon! April 14: NO SCHOOL R&R weekend This week: We will have 30 spelling words. ALL words are to be written in cursive each night for homework. Please include the markings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Markings are not required on Thursdays. For the test on Friday, all words will be written in cursive also! In math, we will wrap up our fractions unit. We will focus heavily on halves, thirds, and fourths/quarters. There will be a test on Thursday. In history, we will have a review on the Westward Expansion on Monday and the test on Tuesday. In science, we will have a very short lesson on Astronomy and the telescope. The test will be on Friday. In literature, we will read chapters 4-8. There will be a quiz on Friday. Scholars are allowed to bring their books home to reread the chapters assigned. PLEASE make sure they bring their books back daily! If you have any questions, please let me know. Mrs. Bejarano

Welcome back!!! Can you believe we have entered the fourth quarter already! I can't believe how fast time flies! This quarter is packed full of learning and I am looking forward to the last few weeks we have ahead of us!
Upcoming Events: March 31: Half Day Dismissal-NO LUNCHES April 7: FIELD DAY April 14: NO SCHOOL This week: In Spalding we will have 30 words. Please have your scholar write their words 3 times each night with the markings. There will be 8 words on Monday, 10 words on Tuesday, and 12 words on Wednesday. On Thursday have your scholar write all words one time with no markings. Test will be on Friday. Please continue to have your scholar practice all 70 phonograms every night. The test will be on Friday. In math we are starting fractions. Scholars will learn about 1/2, 1/4, and 1/3. Scholars will also be able to identify and interpret fractions as a whole. There will be a quiz on Friday. In History we will be studying the Westward Expansion. Scholars are now required to write out all of their notes in the History Journals. Please have your scholar read through their notes nightly and write their summaries on what they learned for the day. There will be no quiz this week. In Literature we will be starting Cricket In Times Square. We will read chapters one through three this week and have a quiz over the 3 chapters on Friday. We have our last poem, The Cow by Robert Louis Stevenson, which will need to be memorized by April 10th. The poem will come home in red folders today. Please let me know if you have any questions! It is our last week of the 3rd quarter! Upcoming events: March 6th - ALL words in cursive for this week March 7th - Field Trip to the Desert Botanical Gardens - BRING A LUNCH March 10th - No school March 13th - 17th - Spring Break March 31st - Half day This week: In Spalding, we will only have 10 words due to the short week and a Field Trip. ALL 10 words are to be written in cursive this week. Please remember to complete the markings on Monday. There will not be Spalding homework on Tuesday. Markings are not required on Wednesday for the review. In math, we will finish our money unit. Students will practice their mental math strategies with subtraction, review, and have a final unit test on Thursday. In science, we will finish our geology unit and have a unit test on Thursday. In literature, we will complete a study guide on Sarah Plain and Tall on Monday. Students will have the week to review and be tested on Thursday.
