I want to thank all of you for the beautiful flowers, sweet treats, gracious gift cards, and heart warming thank you notes! I have enjoyed being your child's second grade teacher and enriching them with the truth, goodness, and beauty of education. I am looking forward to our last few days together as I prepare to send them off to the third grade! It is going to be a tough week, as I will miss these kids and the joy they have brought to the classroom this year! This Week: Wednesday: Half Day Dismissal-NO LUNCHES Thursday: Half Day Dismissal-NO LUNCHES/Last Day of School Spalding: We will have 10 words this week. On Monday do all 10 words with markings. Tuesday all words, no markings. Wednesday will be the final test. Practice all 70 phonograms, final test is on Wednesday. We will be reading Tall Tales in place of math this week. This is the last full week! Please have your scholar to school on time and at school every day this week and next week! Their attendance heavily affects their final grades. This week: There will be 30 spelling words. Please complete the words with markings and in cursive. Markings are not required on Thursday. In math, we will be taking end-of-year math tests. Please complete the extra practice math worksheets each night for homework. In history, we will continue to study influential people in history. There will be a short quiz on Tuesday. In literature, we will finish Charlotte's Web on Wednesday. There will be a final test on Thursday and a grade level celebration on Friday. Please let me know if you have any questions. May 9th - Spring Music Concert, King of Kings Church, starts at 5:30, second graders arrive at 5:00 May 12th - Arts Walk May 15-19 - Teacher Appreciation May 25th - Last day of school This week: There will be 28 spelling words. Please remember to include the markings on Monday and Wednesday. Markings are not required on Thursday. Please also continue to write all words in cursive. In math, we will review shapes on Monday and have a test on Tuesday. The rest of the week will be reviewing for the end of the year Singapore Math Assessments which will take place next week. In Science, we will wrap up the Solar System on Monday, do an experiment on Tuesday and test on Wednesday. In History we will learn about Susan B. Anthony and Eleanor Roosevelt, to finish out this week. In Literature, we will continue reading Charlotte's Web, chapters 17-21. There will not be a quiz this week. If your scholar is taking their book home to reread the assigned chapters, please make sure they bring their books back to school daily! ***There will be NO HOMEWORK TUESDAY due to the concert!
