Please dictate the 10 (11 on Monday) words to your scholar 3 times in different orders. As your scholar writes the words, they need to also do the markings for each word. Please have your scholar write their words in their best Spalding handwriting. Markings need to be done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday you should dictate all 30 words to your scholar and NO MARKINGS need to be done on this day. Spelling test will be on Friday! ****If your child is misspelling a word, please mark it wrong and have them correct it on their homework. Scholars need to study phonograms 1-70 every night. If your scholar can say all 70 phonogram sounds, please practice having them write their phonograms as you dictate to them. Phonogram quiz will be on Friday. Math-We will begin subtraction with renaming. On Monday we will work on mental math strategies to subtract with renaming. On Tuesday we will subtract with renaming in the tens. On Wednesday we will subtract with renaming in the hundreds. On Thursday we will subtract with renaming in the tens and hundreds. There will be a quiz on Friday! ***Students should have their basic math facts through 20 memorized. It would be good practice to have your child practice math flashcards a couple of times a week. History-We will finish learning about the countries Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, and the pampas of South America. We will have a unit review on Wednesday over the geography of the Americas and the test on Thursday. If you have any magnets or a compass I could borrow for next week, please send them in in a labeled bag, I would appreciate it! I will return them by next Thursday the 5th. Literature- We will continue reading The Hundred Dresses. There will be a quiz on Friday! Poem- We will start reciting Bed In Summer on Monday the 25th. We have been practicing in class and I am very proud of how many students already have their poem memorized! As you practice at home keep these categories in mind! Let me know if you have any questions! Have a great week! [email protected].
