I hope your 3 day weekend was restful and refreshing! Even though this is a 4 day week, it will be a busy one! I am looking forward to seeing each of you at our Project Night, Wednesday at 6 pm. Please have your scholar report to our classroom between 5:30 and 5:45. This will allow us time to set up out projects for viewing. School uniforms are required for this event! See you then!
Upcoming Events: Wednesday, January 17: K-5 Project Night, 6 PM ***STUDENTS ARRIVE BETWEEN 5:30-5:45 Saturday, January 20: Trivium "Run the Virtues" 5K/1-Mile Fun Run/Walk Tuesday, January 23: PSO Family Night at Wildflower Bread Company, 5-8 PM Here is a look at this week! Spalding- We will have 20 words this week. We will have 11 words on Tuesday and 9 words on Wednesday. Please dictate the words 3 times to your scholar, in different orders. As your scholar writes the words they also need to do the markings on Tuesday. There is no homework on Wednesday due to project night! On Thursday, please dictate the 20 words to your scholar, checking their spelling. Markings are not required on Thursday! The spelling test and phonogram test will be on Friday. Please continue to study phonograms 1-70 every night. For spelling tests, I will be marking words as incorrect if there is a capital letter instead of a lower case. We have been working on handwriting and where capitals belong. Please email me if you have questions or concerns on this matter. Math- We will begin to study multiplication and division of 5s. Please practice skip counting by 5s with your child to support them in solving these problems. We will also be reviewing dividing with remainders and odd/even numbers. There will be no quiz or test this week. Science-Tuesday we will share our projects with the class to prepare for Wednesday! History-We will begin to study the US Constitution. This week will we be discussing James Madison and the three branches of government. Literature- We will continue to read Sarah Plain and Tall. The scholars are enjoying this book and the importance of family. Writing and Grammar- We will continue to learn about nouns, verbs, and adverbs. We will be forming sentences using adverbs this week.
