I want to thank you for your help and support with Project Week! I was very impressed with the time and creativity that the scholars put into each of their projects! Thank you!
Upcoming Events: Tuesday, January 23: PSO Family Night at Wildflower Bread Company 5-8 pm Friday, February 9: Spirit Day and Half Day Dismissal-NO LUNCHES Monday, February 19: No School/Presidents Day Here is a look at this week: This week: Spalding- Your scholar will have 31 new words this week. Each night, your scholar will receive a piece of paper, in their red folder, with the 10 or 11 words that were studied in class that day. Please dictate the words to your scholar 3 times in different orders. As your scholar writes the words, they need to also do the markings for each word. Please have your scholar write their words in their best Spalding handwriting. Markings need to be done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday you should dictate all 31 words to your scholar. Markings are not required on Thursday. ****If your child is misspelling a word, please mark it wrong and have them correct it on their homework. Scholars need to study phonograms 1-70 every night. If your scholar can say all 70 phonogram sounds, please practice having them write their phonograms as you dictate to them. Math- Monday we will have a quiz on multiplying and dividing by 5s. Tuesday and Wednesday we will learn how to multiply and divide by 10s. On Thursday we will review unit 7, look for a review worksheet to come home. Friday we will take our unit 7 test. Please continue to count by 4s, 5s, and 10s this week. We have been counting up and down in class to help memorize these facts. History- We will be learning about the War of 1812. I would like for the students to come home and tell you what they learned for that day before they complete their history homework. Please have your scholar complete the homework every night in their journals. There will be a review on Thursday and a test on Friday. Literature: We will start Cricket in Times Square. This week we will read chapters 1-5. Writing/Grammar: We will continue to study nouns, verbs, and adverbs. Students will be writing sentences and replacing given adverbs to an adverb of their choice. We are practicing writing beautiful sentences that include the 5 parts of a sentence: 1. Capital letter at the beginning 2. Noun 3. Verb 4. Does the sentence make sense 5. End Marks. These are good prompts to ask your child, if they have included the 5 parts of a sentence, when writing their History or Science sentences. Last week we had some issues on the playground with showing Friendship. We as a class will be practicing the virtue of friendship this week. If you have any questions please email me! Have a wonderful week (its our first whole week back since break)! Mrs. Bejarano
