I hope you all had a relaxing break! We are in the final weeks of our 2nd quarter! We have a lot of learning ahead along with our Winter Concerts just around the corner! Please let me know if you have any questions! Here is a look at the week ahead!
Upcoming Events: Monday, December 4-Winter Concert: Students arrive at 6:45 Concert at 7:15 December 18-20: Half Day Dismissal, NO LUNCHES December 21-January 7: Winter Break This week: Spalding- Your scholar will have 30 new words this week. Each night, your scholar will receive a piece of paper, in their red folder, with the 10 words that were studied in class that day. Please dictate the 10 words to your scholar 3 times in different orders. As your scholar writes the words, they need to also do the markings for each word. Please have your scholar write their words in their best Spalding handwriting. Markings need to be done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday you should dictate all 30 words to your scholar. Markings are not required on Thursday. ****If your child is misspelling a word, please mark it wrong and have them correct it on their homework. Scholars need to study phonograms 1-70 every night. If your scholar can say all 70 phonogram sounds, please practice having them write their phonograms as you dictate to them. Math-We will begin dividing by 2's and 3's. Students will be able to use multiplication facts to help them solve division word problems. Please continue to skip count by 2's and 3's. There will be a quiz on Friday! ***Students should have addition and subtraction math facts with sums to 20 memorized. It would be good practice to have your child practice math flashcards a couple of times a week. Addition and subtraction flashcards can be purchased at most dollar stores. Science-We will be studying the Water Cycle. Students will learn about evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. There will be a test on Thursday. On Friday we will begin learning about clouds. Literature- We will begin reading Little House in the Big Woods. We will read chapters 1-4 in class and there will be a quiz on Friday over these 4 chapters. Students are allowed to bring their books home to reread each chapter read in class for that day, but I strongly encourage students to not read ahead. Grammar/Writing- We will continue to study adverbs. Students will be coming up with some of their own adverbs and replacing adverbs in a sentence with some of their own. The Cow- We will practice as a class on Monday then start reciting on Tuesday. Please let me know if you have any questions! Have a wonderful week! Mrs. Bejarano
