Happy September! Can you believe that we are already half way through our first quarter? Students have been working hard to get back into routines. Our classroom marble jar is more than halfway filled! I'm looking forward to our first celebration when the jar is completely full! We have a busy four day week ahead! Here is a look at the week!
Upcoming events: Thursday, September 7-MATH QUIZ Friday, September 8-THE BOXCAR CHILDREN TEST Friday, September 8-School Picture Day Monday, September 11-SCIENCE QUIZ Friday, September 15- Flagpole Dedication Thursday, September 21-Spalding/Reading Night for parents 6PM Friday, September 22-**SPIRIT DAY** Scholars may wear their spirit shirts! Friday, September 29-Hald Day Dismissal, 12PM-NO LUNCHES SPALDING: We will only have 20 words this week. Please have students complete all markings on Tuesday and Wednesday. All words with no markings on Thursday. TEST on words and phonongrams will be on Friday. MATH: We will continue mental math strategies with addition and subtraction. We will also continue to work on word problems and the use on number bonds. There will be a quiz on Thursday. SCIENCE: We will have our first unit in science which will be the study of the seasons. Please make sure that your student is reviewing all notes daily and writing 2-3 sentence summaries on what they learned in science, for that day. There will be a quiz on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11. LITERATURE: We will finish The Boxcar Children. There will be a test on SEPTEMBER 8th. I also wanted to let you know that our classroom coordinator is Lisa Wilson. Lisa will be helping me organize different activities through out the year. Please be on the look out for emails from Lisa this year for sign ups and other opportunities!
